Mind Body & Soul

It can be damn scary
Wonderfully enigmatic
Mind adjusts accordingly
Routine becomes habit
Take Paul for example
A daring fighter pilot
Shot down in dense jungle
Eventually caught
Literally minutes ago
Open skies parted
Freedom his shadow
Now departed
Locked in hell’s kitchen
Forgotten in a song
His captors said nothing
Fear trembled all along
Paul thought of Anna
Wife of ten years
Her face – the motivator
Soothing broken tears
Isolation, veiled threats
Silence around every bend,
Paul sift regrets
His mind - a close friend
